If Someone Owes You N1m, You'll Be Surprised What A Christian Is Expected To Do

(S)cripture: Luke 6:32-36 (NLT) "If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return. Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting like children of the Most High, for He is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate"

(O)bservation: Judgement day just got a little more interesting...obviously we don't make it to heaven based on how well we live, our belief in what Jesus has done for us is the only condition that gets us there...but at the same time, how we live in Heaven is dependent on how well we lived on earth...there are rewards and levels for everyone of us, "1 Corinthians 3:11-15" gives us more insight into this (definitely worth the read)

I feel like before reading the scripture this morning, i was doing pretty decent...i show love to those i consider friends and family, if someone doesn't like me i simply ignore them for my sake...i lend to those i know can pay back...i go out of my way for those who can do the same for me...but it seems like God hasn't been counting all these things...even sinners behave like this, so what makes me different as a child of God?

I have been called to a much higher standard. I should show love to my enemies, i should lend to them without expecting to be repaid...this is a tough message to hear, but I believe everything Jesus said and continues to say has great significance. I complain every time about how much evil and wickedness we are experiencing in this world, but what would happen if everyone obeyed this instruction?

It goes against our cultural beliefs as a system because we are told to only make investments in people that can pay back, the Kingdom of Heaven works differently, if you will follow these instructions...it says your reward from Heaven will be very great...not reward in Heaven, but from Heaven...which means we will get the reward right here on earth.

(A)pplication: If we look at some of the top "seed" investors in the world today...they all share similar characteristics, we know them for their early investments in top brands like Facebook & Snapchat but what we never hear of are the many other investments they've made that didn't make anything. These guys go into these investments with a different mindset, they might make money and they might not, but it doesn't stop them from giving to these ideas...ultimately what eventually happens, is their investments in 1 or 2 of these ventures then make it so big that it compensates them for the others that didn't work out. It may not be the perfect representation of the verse, but it does make the point.

It may not seem practical because of our many responsibilities, but the Just shall Live by Faith.

Action Plan:

I will be reaching out to someone who still owes me a million naira, this time last year...i did a transaction for him with my money expecting he would pay me back and till today he hasn't paid back and doesn't even pick up my calls anymore. I have felt hatred for this person but a few weeks ago, i got the impression to send him a text forgiving him and telling him to forget about the debt, he didn't even acknowledge the text but based on the message this morning...i am expected to still show love to this person, i will reach out to him again and just check up on him...and ask if there is anything i can do to help him today. It is not going to be easy, but it is what "Real Children" should do

(P)rayer: Heavenly Father, You are our greatest example of love. While we were yet sinners on death row, you came to die for us...I ask for a deeper revelation of this love so i can practice it daily. I want to love people like you do...i ask for the Grace and Wisdom to live like a Real Child of the Most High in Jesus Name. Amen!!!

"Seek First" is a platform inspired from Matthew 6:33 where we are encouraged to Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, live righteously, and everything we need will be given to us.

Our objective is to show you the practicality of this verse and hopefully inspire you to seek Him first daily. We use the S.O.A.P model as a study guide to help fulfill this mandate. We pick different scriptures and try to figure out how we can apply them to our daily lives, how they relate to the Kingdom of God and how we can live righteously through them.
